Job summary

BeReal, supported by Voodoo, is expanding its backend to scale to hundreds of millions of users. We seek a backend engineer with strong Go skills and experience building high-volume APIs in distributed systems.

You will join a tiny, autonomous team of world-class engineers and help shape critical infrastructure for our social app. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams to ship new features quickly, analyze trade-offs, and address architectural challenges as BeReal grows in

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working on API on distributed architecture.
• Proven experience in Go and developing high volume API microservices.
• Self-reliant and have prior experience in a startup or similar environment.
• Value teamwork and thrive on challenges.
• Proficient in English as our team is diverse and international.
• Master degree in computer science or related field.
• Highly motivated to embark on an exciting and challenging journey.

Responsibilities

• Tackle backend scalability challenges, given a product with spikes of millions of users.
• Contribute to the development of a robust architecture supporting massive scale as we expand to new countries.
• Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to create new features for the app.
• Analyze trade-offs and address technical challenges related to key components of our backend.
• Participate in code and design reviews.
