Job summary

Combo is hiring a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer to join the Payroll squad. You will work on HR SaaS features for payroll, tax, and social declarations, while integrating AI-powered tooling to accelerate delivery.

The role involves building a scalable payroll engine, crafting intuitive UIs, and collaborating with product, design, and QA in a dynamic, international team. Location: Paris area preferred; package €60–70k; flexible remote policy and equity options.

Qualifications

• Strong full-stack background on Node.js and React.
• Experience with large React code bases and efficient UI.
• Hands-on mastery of AI tools for software development and integration into workflow.
• Solid software engineering and CS background.
• Knowledge of system design and DB modeling.

Job description

In a context of growth, we’ve got ambitious objectives, especially in our Tech & Product Team. We’re looking for a Sr Full-stack Software Engineer with a strong appetite for front-end and solid AI background to join our squad in the Payroll perimeter. You will be part of the next decisive chapter of Combo: building the best HR solution for SMBs and frontline workers.

Context

Combo is growing fast: today, more than 6,000 clients and 11,000+ locations rely on our solutions to manage their teams, schedules and payroll.

Our Tech & Product team counts 40+ people, organized in 4 squads each owning its functional domain end to end as well as a Platform squad (SRE). You will join the Payroll squad, which builds one of the most critical and complex parts of our product: getting every payslip right, every month, for thousands of businesses and their employees.

You will report to Dorsaf, Engineering Manager of the Payroll squad, and work daily with the squad’s Product Manager, Designer and Quality Engineer.

Our stack today is made of NodeJS, TypeScript, React, Postgres, Redis, GCP, Kubernetes, GitHub, GitHub Actions, etc.

Your missions

• Build an HR SaaS that is genuinely useful and meaningful for its users, with a real social impact
• Implement new features related to payroll calculation, tax deduction and social declarations
• Build a performant and reliable payroll engine
• Design and build intuitive, accessible and performant user interfaces that make complex payroll processes simple for our users
• Work with hairy business rules and fascinating user needs
• Leverage AI tools (coding assistants, agents, LLMs) in your daily work to ship faster and with higher quality, and help the team adopt best practices around them
• Contribute to our Engineering culture and promote it
• Work with passionate teams of Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, Quality Engineers, Customer Support and other colleagues in a friendly and international environment

Preferred experience

• Strong full-stack background on Node.js / React
• Comfortable with large React code base and structure
• A real appetite for front-end: you care about UX, UI quality, performance and accessibility, and you enjoy working closely with Designers
• Hands-on mastery of AI tools for software development (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) and a critical eye on how to use them well: reviewing generated code, knowing their limits, integrating them into your workflow
• Very strong overall software engineering and computer science background
• Solid System Design, Architecture and Database modeling skills
• At least 6–7 years of software development experience in Tech companies
• B2B or SaaS experience preferred
• Experience with remote teams, English speaking
