This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer - Backbone Player in France.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer on the Backbone Player team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining a high-performance HTML video player used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including engineers, product managers, designers, and data analysts to deliver cutting‑edge features and optimize the video streaming experience. This role combines hands‑on development, performance optimization, and mentoring of junior engineers, allowing you to make a tangible impact on product quality and user satisfaction. You will work in an agile, highly technical environment, either remotely or from a modern office in the heart of Sophia‑Antipolis.

Accountabilities
  • Develop new features, fix bugs, and ensure a smooth, high‑quality user experience across multiple browsers and devices.
  • Maintain and modernize the HTML video player codebase, following best practices in testing, CI/CD, and coding standards.
  • Write and maintain technical specifications and documentation for the codebase.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support the growth of the engineering team.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver impactful, user‑centric features.
  • Optimize performance through observability, runtime and bundle analysis, and code improvements.
  • Strong proficiency in Git, HTML, CSS (vanilla), and JavaScript (vanilla).
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and state management (React/Preact preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience building advanced reactive web applications using modern tooling.
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring, observability, and optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with build tools such as Webpack, Rollup, or esbuild.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks (Jasmine, Jest, Vitest).
  • Strong teamwork, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort speaking English in a professional setting.
