Cardiawave, based in Levallois-Perret near Paris, is a medical technology company developing non-invasive ultrasound therapy for cardiovascular diseases. We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to lead our embedded software team, focusing on real-time control, safety-critical design, and hardware-software integration for our medical device platform.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or related field; 6+ years embedded software experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ and bare-metal development.
  • Experience with real-time control and device driver development.
  • Ability to read datasheets, electronics schematics, and use debugging tools like oscilloscopes.

Responsabilités

  • Define technology choices and oversee hardware-software integration.
  • Develop real-time control software for medical device hardware.
  • Contribute to software architecture and requirements specification.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation across product life cycles.
  • Maintain CI/CD and DevOps processes.
  • Review software verification activities (test plans/tools).

Based in Levallois-Perret, near Paris, Cardiawave is a medical technology company pioneering a non-invasive ultrasound therapy for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Its first application targets calcific aortic stenosis, the most common valvular heart disease in adults. The company's patented platform uniquely integrates therapeutic ultrasound, robotics, and ultrasound imaging to deliver a breakthrough treatment solution.

Cardiawave’s innovative technology stems from collaborative work with Georges Pompidou European Hospital (HEGP) and Physics for Medicine Paris (INSERM/CNRS/ESPCI/PSL) internationally recognized leaders in valvular heart disease and cardiac ultrasound imaging.

Today, Cardiawave employs 25 people and is committed to transforming the treatment of structural heart diseases through innovative, patient-centered technologies.

The Role

Cardiawave is seeking a solution-oriented, rigorous, and collaborative Senior Embedded Software Engineer with a passion for improving healthcare through technology to join its software development team.

Reporting directly to the Software Engineering Manager, you will serve as the Tech Lead for Embedded Software, providing technical leadership, driving architectural and technology decisions, and contributing to the design and development of the software powering Cardiawave’s innovative medical device platform. This role requires extensive experience in safety-critical software design and development, real-time systems, and complex hardware-software integration.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Technical leadership: Define technology choices and oversee the selection of hardware components controlled and monitored by software, acting as the technical authority for related decisions while ensuring compliance with project milestones, cost, quality, and technical constraints.
  • Software development: Prototyping, designing, specifying, and developing real-time control and monitoring software for medical device hardware components.
  • Architecture design: Contributing to the definition of software architecture design, as well as functional and technical requirements specification.
  • Technical documentation: Writing and maintaining technical documentation spanning through the life-cycle of Cardiawave’s products, such as software functional specifications, detailed design documentation, manufacturing and servicing instructions.
  • Maintenance and updates: Maintaining existing software through updates, improvements, and bug fixes.
  • Quality and delivery:

Implementing and maintaining CI/CD and DevOps tools and processes.

Participating in the review of software verification activities (test plans, test tools).

  • Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Computer Engineering, or a related Engineering field, with at least 6 years of proven experience in embedded software design and development.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming, including object-oriented design and development.
  • Solid experience with bare-metal development.
  • Solid experience in microprocessor/DSP programming and device driver development.
  • Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret datasheets, read electronic schematics, and use electronic debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Knowledge of robotics and functional safety principles.
  • Knowledge of software design patterns.
  • Programming experience in Python.
  • Experience with libraries, frameworks and communication protocols such as Boost, Texas Instruments SDKs, XML-RPC, RTDE, and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with development tools and frameworks such as Eclipse, VS Code, Visual Studio, CMake, Git, GitLab.
  • Experience with embedded software testing frameworks (e.g., Cantata, Vector cast, Google tests).

Nice to have

  • Experience developing software for the medical industry (compliance with IEC 62304).
  • Experience with cybersecurity risk analysis.
  • FPGA programming knowledge.
