Sim&Cure, located near Montpellier, is seeking a Senior Biomechanics Engineer to drive numerical simulation work for neurovascular device modeling within a clinically oriented R&D environment.

You will develop biomechanical models, implement algorithms, and verify methods while collaborating with software developers and clinical teams to ensure robust, safe medical device software. Fluency in English and French is required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD with a solid biomechanics and numerical simulation foundation.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++.
  • Experience in validating numerical models against experiments.
  • Ability to mentor interns and collaborate across teams.

Founded in 2014, Sim&Cure is French digital start-up focused on improving neurovascular treatments of cerebral aneurysm with a proprietary software suite. The Sim&Size™ software is a Class II medical device with CE mark and FDA clearance that has already been used to treat more than 10,000+ patients in 500+ hospitals in the world.

Through several modules, Sim&Size™ is a software suite that provides to the physician a 3D visualization of medical images and a computational model of neurovascular implantable medical devices (IMDs). The therapeutic strategy is the most important step of this disease treatment and Sim&Size™ is now part of it by being efficient, safe, and reproducible. Computational modeling of specific devices in the anatomy of a patient helps the physician to achieve the intended outcome of the intervention.

Missions

Immersed in a clinically oriented environment, you will serve as a technical reference in Biomechanics to drive various R&D projects related to numerical simulation in the neurovascular field. You will cover the following scope of activities:

  • Interpret clinical issues by identifying the underlying biomechanical phenomena.
  • Propose biomechanical models for these phenomena, as well as numerical simulation methodologies to address these issues.
  • Help implementing verification and validation processes, notably through experimental measurement techniques.

You will thrive in an environment built around these key pillars:

  • Synergy: Collaborating with the company's various R&D departments.
  • Technology Transfer: Help interfacing with the Software Development team to integrate the technological building blocks developed by the Biomechanics team. This involves following quality and regulatory processes to meet the strict requirements of software medical device development.
  • Clinical Vision: Engaging in continuous interactions with the Clinical & Medical Affairs team to provide relevant answers to clinical problems, as well as with field engineers to support them during issues and turn feedback into improvement proposals.
Responsibilities:
  • Take technical ownership of activities related to numerical simulation in biomechanics.
  • Solve biomechanical challenges for internal or external projects by proposing mathematical, mechanical, algorithmic, and software solutions.
  • Verify and validate implemented methods and write the corresponding reports.
  • Conduct scientific monitoring and literature reviews.
  • Participate in pre-clinical and/or clinical studies.
Profil
  • Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience in computational biomechanics, or a PhD with preferably 2+ years of experience, with a strong foundation in solid mechanics and numerical simulation, alongside comfortable software development skills.
  • Proven knowledge of biomechanics and numerical simulation.
  • Proven knowledge of Python and C++ programming.
  • Familiarity with main tools used in numerical simulation (NumPy, Pandas, VTK/PyVista, Gmsh, ParaView).
  • Mastery of experimental validation techniques for numerical simulation methodologies.
  • Ability to tutor interns and share technical expertise with junior team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and a clinically oriented mindset are required.
  • Strong core values, including multicultural appreciation, integrity, and accountability.
  • Ability to work in a software deep-tech environment.
  • A good sense of humor is always a plus!
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and French.
