Schneider Electric is seeking a Senior Power Systems Architect at our R&D Center in Europe – Grenoble to advance electrical distribution and grid study capabilities. The role involves leading studies from protection to control, and collaborating across business units to tackle new energy challenges.
You will perform simulations on power grid systems, focusing on safety and stability, and drive architecture optimization using Matlab/Simulink and other simulation tools.
Wedian is looking for a Senior Power Systems Architect based out of our R&D Center in Europe – Grenoble to join our team.
Within the Global Competency Center in Electrical Systems team, this position is created to enhance our knowledge in advanced systems and electrical distribution. The team focuses on studying emerging technologies and their impact on the electrical distribution. It is hosted in multigeographies and supports multiple applications studies from renewable to critical applications like data center.
The Senior control and Power system expert will interact with multiple teams in different Business units, with high level of expertise and knowledge in power systems and electrical distribution design. He or she will lead and drive the innovation and technical work package within the organization regarding the new energy landscape and new challenges in electrical distribution from protection to control, safety and standards.
You carry out studies related to new technologies and new energy sources. You perform simulations on power grid systems, focusing on safety, protection, and stability.
You will work on complex problems where analyzing situations and data requires an in‑depth evaluation of diverse technical and contextual factors. You will drive and manage studies and investigations within the various streams and projects that fall under a global mandate.
One of our main targeted application domains is Data Center solutions and EV/Buildings in addition to a broader range of advanced electrical engineering topics.
You should help to maintain and evolve the library of power systems model within the team and will lead the work on your scope.
Master degree and/or PhD in Electrical engineering with 5 years minimum of experience which allowed you to develop a high degree of autonomy and a strong leadership mindset, particularly when dealing with forward‑looking or anticipatory subjects. Critical thinking is essential to succeed in this role.
These soft skills complement the required expertise in one or several of the following electrical engineering fields:
Any application knowledge is an added value and an experience in conversion could be appreciated. Direct current knowledge is required due to integration of PV and batteries in DERs.
You should master one or two tools of simulation and would be willing to implement in Mathworks environment the studies regarding different architectures. Using these models, you will enable the stakeholders to target the optimized architecture according to fixed KPIs.
