Job summary

Pasqal in France seeks a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, harden and operate the PASQAL Cloud Platform. You will own our public cloud architecture (GCP) and drive a sequenced improvement roadmap in collaboration with the Infrastructure Engineering Manager.

You’ll work on multi-region Kubernetes deployments, IAM, CI/CD pipelines, and cost control while enabling software engineering teams and maintaining production readiness.

Qualifications

• Cloud architecture: proven experience designing public cloud platforms, ideally on GCP.
• Platform evolution: audit existing systems and deliver incremental improvements.
• Infrastructure: hands-on production with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Linux and cloud networking.

Responsibilities

• Improve and operate the PASQAL Cloud platform on GCP, including networking, IAM and multi-region concerns.
• Define governance rules, infrastructure standards and golden paths and drive adoption.
• Support deployment automation, environment provisioning and production readiness.

About Pasqal

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, harden and operate the infrastructure behind PASQAL Cloud Platform. You will take ownership of our public cloud architecture (mainly GCP), understand the existing platform in depth. You will be expected to propose and execute a sequenced improvement roadmap - in close alignment with the Infrastructure Engineering Manager, to whom you will report.

PASQAL Cloud is the managed service through which customers submit quantum jobs to our emulators and QPUs. It runs on Kubernetes across several regional platforms (Europe, Middle East).

This is a senior individual-contributor role with design responsibility, inside a small Ops team. You will work primarily on the cloud infrastructure but will also occasionally contribute HPC cluster resources which are used for emulation purposes.

Job description

• Improve and operate our platform with GCP: networking (VPC, load balancing, DNS, firewall policies, WAF), identity (IAM, OIDC, workload identity), multi-region and multi-tenant concerns, resilience and cost control.

• Define and document governance rules, infrastructure standards and golden paths (versioned modules, review rules, guardrails), and get them adopted by the teams that use them.

• Support software engineering teams on deployment automation, environment provisioning and production readiness — you are an enabler, not a ticket queue.

• Strengthen monitoring, alerting and incident response; take part in on-call and turn incidents into durable fixes.

• Operate, configure and secure infrastructure related GitLab configuration : CI/CD design, runners, permissions, secrets handling, supply-chain and instance hardening.

• Propose improvement plans, then break them down and sequence their execution (migrations, refactors, hardening) without disrupting production.
  

About you

Must-have

• Cloud architecture: Proven experience designing public cloud platforms, ideally on GCP. Strong AWS expertise welcome with a willingness to ramp up on GCP.

• Platform evolution: Ability to audit existing systems, prioritize improvements and deliver changes incrementally.

• Infrastructure: Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Linux and cloud networking.

• DevOps & CI/CD: Hands-on GitOps and CI/CD expertise, including progressive rollouts and GitLab administration (GitHub also welcome).

• Security-first mindset: Solid knowledge of IAM, least privilege, secrets management, encryption and vulnerability management.

• Production ownership: Ability to participate confidently in on-call rotations.

• Professional English: Ability to collaborate and document effectively in English.

• Clear communication: Explain architectural choices and trade-offs to technical and non-technical teams, and document decisions, runbooks, and standards.

• Autonomy & impact: Take ownership, focus on results and navigate ambiguity and legacy systems confidently.

• Collaborative mindset: Work effectively across software, quantum research, and hardware teams; propose, challenge constructively, and build consensus.

• Team development: Help others grow through reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing, without formal management responsibility.

Nice-to-have

• Service mesh (Istio), external-dns, Grafana/LGTM observability stack, Cloud Armor.

• Experience with regulated or audited environments (SOC2, ISO 2701, NCA CCC/ECC).

• Multi-region or sovereign-cloud deployments.

• Exposure to HPC and SLURM scheduling.

• Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKS).

• Experience with data engineering architectures.
