Senior Civil Roadway Design Engineer

Location: Boston, MA

We are looking for an experienced civil roadway design engineer to join our dynamic transportation team in New England. The role involves working on major transportation projects across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the broader New England region.

Responsibilities

• Develop geometric layouts, 3D roadway models, and perform civil engineering calculations and analyses for DOT and regional projects.
• Design roadways, including existing ground, proposed pavement, walls, bridges, and drainage systems.
• Prepare material quantity calculations and construction documentation.
• Utilize advanced design software such as MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, and Geopak to create high-quality deliverables.
• Collaborate with CAD designers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
• Oversee plan production and ensure quality deliverables.
• Coordinate with other disciplines (drainage, traffic, structural) to deliver integrated solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and InRoads or Geopak; experience with OpenRoads is desirable.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8 years of roadway design experience, including geometric design and drainage layouts.
• Strong knowledge of Massachusetts and Connecticut DOT policies and procedures.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable.
• Experience with design-build projects and state DOT procedures is a plus.
• Intermediate proficiency in Excel (macros, equations).
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Salary

$86,700.00 – $151,700.00
