Pigment is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build performance-critical systems that process millions of records in real time, directly enabling clients to make better, faster decisions.

Join the Core Engine team and design/optimize our proprietary engine using .NET Core, PostgreSQL, and GCP, while collaborating with frontend, product teams and designers to deliver impactful features at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience as a software engineer on production systems.
• Proven ability to design object-oriented software with languages such as C#, Java, C++, Golang, Rust, Python, or Ruby.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; French is not required.

Responsabilités

• Design and build the core computation engine that powers our business planning platform.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to define, develop, and deliver features that bring value to users.
• Optimize performance and scalability of systems processing large-scale data in real time.
• Continuously monitor and improve the reliability, maintainability, and test coverage of backend services.
• Contribute to technical architecture and decision-making across the backend stack.
• Champion clean code, great documentation, and modern engineering best practices.

In any case, you have:

• Experience working as a software engineer on production systems.
• Proven ability to design object-oriented software with languages such as C#, Java, C++, Golang, Rust, Python, or Ruby.
• A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
• A desire to deeply understand how the product works and the value it brings to users.
• A good dose of humility and the willingness to grow (no matter your seniority!).
• A fluent level in English (French is not required).

Your Responsibilities

Current Projects You could Work On

• Computation Engine: Scaling and optimizing our formula engine to support increasingly complex use cases and larger datasets.
• Performance Optimization: Profiling and improving the speed of real-time queries and calculations.
• Infrastructure Improvements: Evolving our backend platform for reliability, observability, and developer efficiency.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Working closely with frontend teams to ensure smooth API integration and a great user experience.

Technical Challenges

• Handling real-time computation and aggregation over millions of records.
• Ensuring system performance while scaling to meet enterprise-grade demands.
• Balancing feature delivery with code quality and technical debt management.
• Driving architectural improvements to keep our platform fast, reliable, and future-ready.
