Stellar Telecommunications is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop and maintain STEER Management, Stellar's OpenWisp-based device and network management platform, with a Django/Python backend.

You will own backend features, APIs and data models across device and web layers while contributing to open-source upstream projects. This hands-on role offers ownership in a collaborative, international team and flexible remote/hybrid options.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with Python.
• Experience designing REST APIs and multi-layer permission systems.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and self-hosted stack.
• Networking fundamentals required.
• Excellent documentation habits.
• Active involvement in open-source communities.
• Professional English; French a plus.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop and maintain features on STEER Management, Stellar's OpenWisp-based platform.
• Own and extend the Django/Python backend, including REST APIs and permission logic across device, web, and management layers.
• Design, maintain and document the data model, migrations and database schema, preserving data integrity across OpenWisp upgrades.
• Improve test coverage and adapt OpenWisp test suites to Stellar configurations.
• Track OpenWisp upstream releases and plan adaptations ahead of major versions.
• Contribute fixes upstream to OpenWisp and support release processes with DevOps.
• Collaborate with STEER EDGE on device APIs and provisioning interfaces.
• Clarify use cases, permissions and features with product and customer teams.
• Document architecture and configuration logic for the engineering team.
