Job summary

Madbox, a fast-growing mobile gaming company in Paris, is hiring a Senior Back End Developer to design and scale public-facing APIs in Go on GCP while maintaining internal tooling in TypeScript/Node.js on AWS. You will impact millions of players and work across Game Production, Data, and Central Game Tech teams.

The role emphasizes performance, reliability, and CI/CD excellence with Terraform and GitHub Actions, plus observability with Datadog.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development with Go and TypeScript/Node.js.
• Strong MongoDB experience as a primary database.
• Designing and operating scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Cloud infrastructure experience at scale; GCP preferred, AWS valuable.
• CI/CD practices familiarity with Terraform and GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Observability experience with Datadog.
• Excellent English communication in an international team.

As a Senior Back End Developer, you'll work across our Game Production, Data, and Central Game Tech teams: designing and scaling public-facing APIs in Go on GCP, maintaining TypeScript/Node.js internal tooling on AWS with React frontends, and contributing to the CI/CD ecosystem that powers game and API delivery. Your future responsibilities and scope:

• Design, build, and scale public-facing APIs in Go, hosted on GCP, serving millions of users with high availability and low latency
• Ensure backend reliability through comprehensive testing strategies and safe rollout processes for API releases
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize backend systems using Datadog, ensuring proactive reliability for player-facing services
• Collaborate with game teams, data engineers, and product managers to align technical solutions with business goals
• Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines — including GitHub Actions workflows with Terraform, and supporting Jenkins-based game pipelines alongside the dedicated owner
• Support the development and maintenance of internal tools and services in TypeScript/Node.js, hosted on AWS

The profile we are looking for:

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development, with strong proficiency in Go and solid knowledge of TypeScript/Node.js, and familiarity with React for contributing to internal tool frontends
• Strong experience with MongoDB as a primary database
• Proven experience designing and operating scalable microservices and RESTful APIs, with a strong focus on performance and reliability
• Hands-on experience operating cloud infrastructure at scale, including managed services and networking. GCP experience is preferred; AWS experience is also valuable
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices - Terraform and GitHub Actions or Jenkins
• Comfortable working with observability tools, particularly Datadog
• Excellent communication skills; able to work in English in a cross-functional, international team

Nice to have:

• Experience in the gaming industry or with real-time, high-throughput backend systems.
• Experience building CLIs or developer tooling.
