Upsun is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to join the Data Science and Engineering team. You’ll transform raw data into actionable metrics and data products, using DBT and scalable architectures.

You’ll own key business metrics and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams to gather requirements and share best practices. You will lead data modeling projects, work with large datasets in GCP/AWS, and guide partner teams on analytics impacts.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with SQL and DBT in real production settings.
• Good habits in Python, Git, and CI/CD.
• Data architecture experience building models for large datasets in cloud platforms like GCP or AWS.
• Curiosity and problem solving: testing new tools and learning new technologies.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work asynchronously across teams.
• Experience in remote collaboration and time management.

Responsabilités

• Design and build data models turning raw data into usable metrics and data products, using DBT and medallion architecture.
• Define and own product metrics, setting up and tracking key business indicators.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to gather requirements and share methods.
• Lead data modeling projects, selecting appropriate tools and planning delivery.
• Work with petabyte-scale datasets to enable data-driven decisions across the company.
• Advise partner teams by creating analytic metrics and explaining data impact on product.
• Improve team processes and code with well-documented solutions for reuse.
• Evolve the modern data stack using tools like GCP BigQuery, AWS S3, Fivetran, Hightouch, and AI tools.
• Support a globally distributed remote culture with strong learning and collaboration.

Impact of a Senior Analytics Engineer

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will join our Data Science and Engineering team at Upsun to help our company make smarter choices. You will do this by helping us better understand our customers and internal operations. You will work with large amounts of platform and business data to create clear insights that improve our product and decisions. In this role, you will use SQL, Python, DBT, Hex, Metabase, and GCP data tools. You will work on important projects like building new data models with Salesforce and financial data, or working with AI tools and cloud cost modeling (FinOps).

• Data modeling and architecture: You will design and build models that turn raw data into useful metrics and data products, using DBT and medallion architecture.
• Metric design & ownership: You will define what success looks like for our products, setting up and tracking key business metrics.
• Cross-functional collaboration: You will work with technical and non-technical teams to collect requirements, share methods, and teach best practices for using data.
• Technical leadership: You will lead data modeling projects, choosing the right tools and planning how to complete the work.
• Scalable solutions: You will work efficiently with data of all sizes, including petabyte-scale datasets, to help everyone make data-based decisions.
• Strategic advisory: You will guide partner teams by creating and explaining analytical metrics, helping them understand how data impacts different parts of the product and business.
• Operational efficiency: You will improve our team's processes and code by creating well-documented solutions that can be used again in the future.
• Evolving modern stack: You will use modern tools (GCP BigQuery, AWS S3, Fivetran, Hightouch, and AI tools like Claude Code) and help us improve our data architecture as it grows.

What you bring

Core skills:

• Strong experience with SQL and DBT in real production settings, along with good habits in Python, Git, and CI/CD.
• Data architecture: Solid experience building data models for large datasets (up to petabytes) in cloud platforms like GCP or AWS.
• Curiosity and problem solving: A passion for testing new tools, learning new technologies, and finding simple ways to solve complex problems.
• Execution & tradeoffs: The ability to choose the best solution among different technical options, communicate clearly, and work well asynchronously.
• Clear communication: Experience creating solutions and explaining them clearly to different types of audiences.
• Remote collaboration: Comfort working in a remote team, managing your time well, and working across multiple teams.
• Bonus Prior experience working with FinOps principles or FOCUS data models.
• Experience or interest in building AI data agents and modern AI-assisted data workflows.
