Shiftmove, a fast-growing European SaaS company, seeks a Senior Accountant to own French entities and lead GL, intercompany, VAT, and audits. You’ll ensure accurate local reporting, drive process improvements, and support other EU entities as needed.

Recently, we acquired Optimum and Ocean in France, strengthening our presence and doubling down on one of Europe's largest fleet markets.

Our AI-powered platform connects real-time vehicle data to intelligent software. This enables companies to procure smarter, control costs, remain compliant, and successfully drive their transition to cleaner mobility, all from a single place.

Our goal is clear: reach 1 million managed vehicles on our platform by 2027. We are already at 730,000. The next chapter is all about execution, and that’s where you come in.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on, high-ownership Senior Accountant to join our European Finance team. In this role, you will take full ownership of assigned legal entities in France, overseeing daily General Ledger operations, intercompany accounting, tax compliance, and audit processes. You will also provide back-up support for other EU entities (including Poland, Switzerland, etc.) when necessary.

You will suit this role if you are a "High Agency" professional, someone who naturally dives into complex financial data, identifies root causes, builds structured processes, and takes full responsibility for execution.

Your Responsibilities

• General Ledger and Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage full debits/credits, complex journal entries, fixed asset schedules, depreciation and accruals management, prepayments, and comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations for assigned entities.
• VAT Leadership and Tax Support: Lead internal VAT preparation, filing, and reconciliations as a core priority. Oversee local tax compliance and coordinate with external tax advisors for local filings (experience with Corporate Income Tax / CIT is a plus, but VAT mastery is essential).
• Intercompany and Transfer Pricing: Manage intercompany entries, reconcile intercompany accounts across European jurisdictions, and resolve intercompany discrepancies to ensure accurate group-level reporting.
• Audit Management and Entity Ownership: Take full responsibility for running end-to-end statutory and annual audits for your assigned entities, maintaining clean, audit-ready documentation.
• Cross-Entity Support and Collaboration: Act as a key backup for peer accountants covering other European entities, ensuring seamless continuity across the finance organization.
• Financial Closings and Group Alignment: Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures in line with Group reporting standards, GAAP requirements, and tight timelines.
• Data Optimization and Process Building: Identify underlying data discrepancies, optimize workflows, and implement scalable, structured accounting solutions.
  

Who Will Thrive in This Role

• Solid Accounting Foundation: Strong mastery of core General Ledger accounting principles, balance sheet reconciliations, depreciation schedules, and multi-currency/multi-entity debits and credits.
• VAT Expertise: Deep understanding of VAT compliance and reporting (French and/or European VAT rules). Income tax experience is welcomed, but VAT proficiency is paramount.
• International and Intercompany Experience: Background working within an international corporate structure. Experience managing intercompany transactions across multiple countries.
• Languages: Professional French proficiency and full professional proficiency in English (company working language).
• Flexible Location: Open to candidates based in France, Poland, Morocco, or any country where Shiftmove operates a legal entity.
• Systems & Tools: Proficiency with modern ERP systems (experience with NetSuite is a distinct advantage). Willingness to leverage AI-driven tools to automate workflows.
