Job summary

European Payments Initiative (EPI) seeks an Engineering Manager for Security to embed secure-by-design practices in our SDLC. You’ll lead a pan-European security team, drive DevSecOps, and build a scalable, compliant security program across cloud and on‑premise environments.

You’ll balance hands-on engineering with leadership, collaborating with Product and Platform teams to align security with business goals while maintaining regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in cyber security engineering.
• Experience leading an engineering-focused department with scalable infrastructure.
• Desire to spend ~50% hands-on time while guiding risk-aware decisions.
• Ability to contribute to technical and business strategy and align with security vision.
• Strong experience in security engineering for complex, secure platforms.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of French, German, or Dutch is a plus.
• Experience in payments or financial services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Shape and execute the security engineering strategy across teams.
• Mentor security and platform engineers; foster growth and alignment with vision.
• Architect secure cloud environments and IAM best practices.
• Strengthen compliance readiness with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 frameworks.
• Collaborate across Security, Platform, and Product to deliver secure solutions.
