A young deep-tech company in Paris is seeking a part-time Scientific Software & Control Systems Engineer. You will design and maintain control systems for plasma physics experiments using EPICS and TANGO. Ideal candidates have experience in control system architectures, network configurations, and programming in Python or C/C++. About the Role

Design, deploy, and maintain a robust and scalable control, communication, and data infrastructure for a plasma physics experimental setup, relying on existing community standards (EPICS and/or TANGO), rather than developing ad‑hoc solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement the control and communication architecture of the experimental setup.
• Set up and maintain a control system based on EPICS and/or TANGO.
• Integrate diagnostics, sensors, and hardware interfaces.
• Organize network connectivity between diagnostics, control servers, and data storage systems.
• Contribute to the design and operation of the data acquisition, storage, and processing pipeline.
• Ensure data traceability, timestamping, and reproducibility.
• Collaborate closely with experimental and instrumentation engineers.
• Advise on scalability and robustness of the system.

Requirements

• Experience with EPICS and/or TANGO.
• Knowledge of control systems and data acquisition architectures.
• Network configuration in laboratory environments.
• Programming skills (Python and/or C/C++).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with plasma physics or large scientific instruments.
• Familiarity with HDF5 or time‑series databases.
• Visualization and monitoring tools.
• Git and collaborative development practices.

Experience Level & Compensation

• Junior (0–3 years) – €40k – €50k gross annual full‑time equivalent (adjusted pro rata for part‑time or freelance engagement).
• Intermediate / Medium (3–7 years) – €50k – €65k gross annual full‑time equivalent.
• Senior (7+ years) – €65k – €80k+ gross annual full‑time equivalent.
• Final compensation will depend on experience level, engagement rate (20–50%), and status (employee or freelance).

Dicio Conflatio is a young deep‑tech company in its creation phase, dedicated to the development of innovative concepts in energy and advanced physical systems. The company is currently designing and testing a very early‑stage linear fusion prototype, involving close interaction between experimental physics, diagnostics, control systems, and data analysis.
