Overview

Darwin Recruitment are currently hiring for a Satellite Architect on behalf of a business in Toulouse that was founded in 2019 and they specialize in small satellites, nanosatellites, stratospheric balloons, and defense systems. The company designs, manufactures, and integrates high-tech space and defense equipment, serving both national and European clients, including the French space agency (CNES) and the European Space Agency (ESA). This company combines “NewSpace” agility (small satellites, constellations) with sovereign defense capabilities (surveillance systems, drones, aerostats). They operate clean-room production facilities and have recently expanded by acquiring CNIM Air Space for their balloon and aerostat business.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Director of Engineering: You are the Technical Manager / Satellite Manager on the projects on which you are involved, in charge of the operational supervision of the engineering teams (architects and business engineers).
  • You will produce and design satellite solutions in their entirety that meet technical and programmatic requirements, relying on team members.
  • You coordinate the internal teams as well as the various project stakeholders (subcontracting, customer) and ensure the technical synthesis of contributions.
  • You interface with the customer and partners and ensure a good understanding of the needs and constraints.
  • You negotiate layouts with the aim of optimizing the overall system, finding compromises between performance, cost, and schedule aspects.
  • You will provide support to the project manager for the financial and calendar monitoring of satellite architecture activities.
Qualifications
  • You have more than 10 years of experience in the development of satellites or satellite subsystems, ideally with experience in at least two different subsystems (CADS/CNG, Avionics, etc.).
  • You like to innovate, (your ideas will be welcome), want to design space systems differently, with more agility, speed, and demonstrate rigor and pragmatism.
  • You are fluent in French & English, both written and oral.
  • You know how to create relationships of trust within our teams, with our subcontractors and with our customers.
