Wandercraft seeks a Systems Engineer – Robotics Safety & Functional Safety to define and analyze safety architectures for humanoid robots and medical exoskeletons. You will collaborate across mechanics, electronics, embedded software, control, AI, clinical and regulatory teams to ensure safety and regulatory compliance during design, analysis and validation.

The role emphasizes MBSE, risk analyses, and adherence to EU machinery directives, with a focus on delivering robust, safe robotic systems

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in systems engineering or safety engineering for complex hardware/software systems.
• Experience in highly regulated industries (automotive, railway, aerospace, industrial machinery).
• Professional knowledge of the EU Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC).
• Practical experience applying functional safety standards (ISO 12100, IEC 62061, ISO 13849).
• Interest in MBSE approaches.

Responsabilités

• Define system-level safety architectures and safety-critical functions.
• Derive technical safety requirements from hazard analyses.
• Contribute to design and evaluation of functional safety mechanisms within the robotic system.
• Evaluate Safety Integrity Level (SIL) and/or Performance Level (PL) for system functions.
• Work with subsystems to ensure safety requirements are implemented.
• Ensure alignment with applicable safety standards.
• Contribute to system engineering for Wandercraft robotic platforms (humanoid robots, exoskeletons).
• Support architecture definition and cross-check hardware/software subsystems for coherence.
• Maintain system-level technical coherence across multidisciplinary teams.
• Define, structure and manage system requirements across the product lifecycle.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, subsystem specs and verifications.
• Contribute to MBSE deployment and tooling.
• Support system modeling and documentation to improve communication and design robustness.
• Co-define the system Verification & Validation strategy and coordinate validation activities.
• Evaluate regulatory compliance and perform risk analyses (FMEA/FMECA).
• Contribute to continuous improvement of safety engineering processes.
