Role Overview

As a member of the RF Power Product Design team, the RF Power Amplifier Design Engineer will work alongside experienced engineers, providing mentoring and guidance. The design engineer will be based at the Morgan Hill Design Center and will be tasked with designing RF power devices for MACOM's high‑power GaN transistor products for the multi‑market, base‑station, and 5G markets. The role involves biasing devices, capturing accurate RF data, EM simulation, and impedance matching network design using MWO or ADS.

Internship Responsibilities
  • Work on an individual project with defined outcome goals.
  • Gain hands‑on experience in RF device testing and amplifier assembly.
  • Receive excellent training and ongoing supervision.
  • Attend webinar series, networking/social events, and poster presentations.
  • Receive formal, written feedback.
Requirements
  • Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong interest in RF/microwave and semiconductor devices; relevant coursework and/or lab work required.
  • Willingness to work hands‑on in the lab to test RF devices and assemble and test RF amplifiers.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
Prerequisite Skills and Experience
  • Understanding of Linear Circuit Theory.
  • Understanding of Transmission‑Line Theory.
  • Impedance Matching/Transform, Smith Chart.
Additional Desirable Skills
  • RF design software including ADS and MWO.
  • 2.5D or 3D EM simulation.
  • RF passive/active circuit design.
  • Doherty Power Amplifier experience.
Salary

The salary range for this position is $29 - $34 per hour. Actual salary will depend on location, experience, education, and specific knowledge.
