Job description

Why this role is key

Material selection is an important way to control the cost of our antennas, particularly when they are large or manufactured in volume. This internship aims to investigate alternative materials for their radiating layer.

Reporting to Oualid, RF Research Engineer, you will help identify and characterise substrates, then compare their effects on losses, bandwidth and the behaviour of incident electromagnetic waves. The aim will be to assess the trade-offs between cost and performance relative to the reference solution, potentially including the development of prototypes.

Your responsibilities

Substrate investigation and selection

  • Conduct a comparative study of substrates that could be used for the Ku-band radiating layer,
  • Identify candidate materials and select specific substrates for characterisation.

RF characterisation and performance analysis

  • Characterise the selected substrates and assess their influence on losses, bandwidth and the behaviour of incident electromagnetic waves,
  • Compare their performance with that of the reference substrate,
  • Analyse the trade-offs between cost and RF performance to assess the merits of the different solutions.

Prototype validation

  • Depending on the needs of the study, contribute to the development of prototypes incorporating the selected substrates,
  • Use the results obtained to supplement the comparative analysis.

Above all, we are looking for someone who is motivated, curious and ready to learn, within a team that will support their skills development. You are in your second or final year at an engineering school (or an equivalent university programme), specialising in wave physics, radio frequency engineering or a related field . Your skills You have knowledge of electromagnetism and antennas , You are familiar with one or more programming languages (ideally Python), You are familiar with simulation software such as CST , HFSS and/or COMSOL, You have knowledge of circuit design and a basic understanding of electronics, You can use measurement instruments, particularly a vector network analyser (VNA) , You are comfortable communicating in English, both verbally and in writing. Your approach to work You communicate easily and enjoy teamwork in an international environment, You take a thorough and methodical approach to conducting your studies and analysing results, You can summarise your analyses and present your conclusions clearly, You take the initiative and suggest areas for improvement, You enjoy investigating innovative solutions . Reasons to work at Greenerwave A financial contribution towards your lunches, Benefits offered by our Social and Economic Committee (CSE), Offices located in the heart of Paris, in the 2nd arrondissement, Monthly team events and evenings out to spend time together outside of project work, Discussions with technical teams to discover the technologies you are working on and better understand their applications, A multicultural environment bringing together people with varied expertise, where you can learn from others, Close guidance and support from your internship supervisor to help you progress throughout your internship and prepare to launch your career.
