Job summary

Meta is seeking Research Interns to join the Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) Communication & Language teams. These interns will work on NLP, audio, vision, ML, and DL, developing core algorithms at scale and exploring multimodal models.

This 12–24 week internship offers mentorship, opportunities to publish, and direct contributions to Meta product research and development.

Qualifications

• Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in NLP, Speech, CV, ML, AI or equivalent.
• Research and/or work experience in LLMs, Speech Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning or equivalent.
• Experience in Python, C++, or other related languages.
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment; proven research impact (grants, fellowships, patents, publications).
• Experience advancing AI, including contributions to open-source libraries and frameworks.
• Experience manipulating and analyzing large-scale, high-dimensional data from varying sources.
• Experience applying theoretical and empirical research to real problems.
• Experience working cross-functionally in a team; intent to return to degree-program after internship.

Responsibilities

• Brainstorm with mentors, review literature and existing solutions for challenging problems.
• Develop novel solutions, implement prototypes, and run extensive experiments with meaningful benchmarks.

Meta is seeking Research Interns to join our Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) FAIR Communication & Language teams. These teams are committed to advancing the field of artificial intelligence through fundamental breakthroughs in technologies that help machines interact with and understand our world. We're looking for individuals passionate about Natural Language Processing, audio and speech processing, computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning. Our interns have the opportunity to make core algorithmic advances and apply their ideas at an unprecedented scale.We're especially interested in candidates with expertise across natural language processing, computer vision, audio/speech, generative modeling, and other multimodal domains, including:- Frontier model training (pretraining, midtraining, SFT/RL)- Cross-lingual and cross-domain transfer learning- Multimodal understanding, reasoning, and generation Generative modeling (diffusion, flow matching, etc.)- Modeling for the physical worldOur team at Meta AI offers twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long internships and we have various start dates throughout the year. Responsibilities

• Perform research that enables learning the semantics of data (specifically text, audio, images, video, and other modalities).

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the field of Natural Language Processing, Speech Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent
• Research and/or work experience in LLMs, Speech Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or equivalent
• Experience in Python, C++, or other related languages
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading conferences in AI (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ACL, EMNLP, Interspeech, etc.)
• Experience advancing AI, including contributions to open source libraries and frameworks
• Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, large scale, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
• Experience in utilizing theoretical and empirical research to solve problems
• Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
• Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
