A leading global organization is seeking two Research Associate-Agronomists for the Sweet Recovery Project in Madagascar. The role involves field activities, farmer training, and data collection to support agricultural development, ensuring food security and improved nutrition for local communities.
The InternationalPotato Center (CIP) is seeking to recruit two (02) dynamic and experienced ResearchAssociate-Agronomist to ensure the field activities and support theimplementation of the Sweet Recovery Project (SWRP) that is currentlyimplemented in ten districts in southern Madagascar, with Agronomists servingas the backbone of project implementation at the district level. Agronomistsare pivotal to the project's success, implementing, supporting and coordinatingactivities at the district level.
The Position: These positions will report to the Project coordinator. They will be based in Betroka and Ampanihyrespectively.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct field visits and providetechnical assistance on OFSP cultivation.
· Organize and deliver farmer trainingsessions and on-farm demonstrations.
· Collect and analyze data; prepare andsubmit progress reports.
· Build relationships with communities,authorities, and stakeholders.
· Collaborate with project staff andpartners to ensure effective implementation.
Monitor project activities and participate in impact evaluations.
Selection Criteria
· Master’s degree in Agronomy, Biology,Nutrition, or related area.
· At least 6 years of experience required.
· Knowledge of modern agriculturaltechniques and technologies.
· Skills in training smallholder farmers,especially using participatory approaches.
· Experience in agricultural extension,working with smallholder farms.
· Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and aspart of a team.
· Strong organizational and timemanagement skills.
· Proficiency in data collection, analysisand reporting.
· Proficiency in computer skills,including MS Office.
· Willingness to travel to remote areasand work under challenging conditions.
