Lever, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer, Trust & Safety for a partner company based in France. You will join a fully remote engineering team building reliable email infrastructure and real-time enforcement systems to combat spam, fraud, and account takeovers.

The role spans backend services, databases, ML components, and observability, with ownership from design through production deployment. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of software engineering, strong English, and hands-on

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Deep hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and React (Hono/Next.js a plus).
• Experience with Go for latency-sensitive backend services.
• Solid AWS, AWS CDK and Datadog experience.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL and Redis; architectural sensibility for scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate real-time enforcement systems with millisecond latency.
• Design scalable detection pipelines from signals to automated actions.
• Develop and improve detection rules and enforcement policies.
• Detect account takeovers and leaked API keys while minimizing false positives.
• Automate investigations, appeals, and bulk enforcement workflows.
• Develop ML classifiers for spam/abuse detection and safe deployment.
• Maintain observability with logs, metrics, tracing, and error handling.
• Contribute across frontend, backend, databases, queues, and infra.
• Own projects from discovery to production deployment and continuous improvement.
