Lever, Inc. seeks a Linux Kernel Engineer to join a globally distributed team working on Ubuntu kernels across embedded, cloud, and enterprise platforms. This fully remote role focuses on hardware enablement, security, performance, and collaboration with silicon partners.

You will diagnose kernel issues, patch and test, and push upstream while contributing to kernel initiatives and open-source communities. Travel twice yearly may be required.

Qualifications

• Significant professional programming experience in C and low‑level software engineering.
• Deep knowledge of the Linux kernel architecture and major subsystems.
• Experience patching, debugging, testing, and upstreaming kernel work.
• Familiarity with Linux upstream processes, development practices, and release cycles.
• Strong experience with device drivers, BSPs, and hardware enablement.

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with a globally distributed Linux kernel team across time zones.
• Work with silicon, cloud, and hardware partners to enable Linux on their platforms.
• Diagnose, debug, and resolve complex kernel issues across architectures.
• Own a Ubuntu kernel flavor, ensuring development, testing, reliability, and production readiness.
• Improve tooling, automation, benchmarking, stress testing, and release processes.
• Submit and maintain Linux kernel patches in line with upstream processes.
