Devereux Day Academy seeks a Certified Reading Specialist to join our private academic school program in Landenberg, PA. You will support emotional and behavioral health students with reading interventions and data-driven instruction, in a small-class environment.

Responsibilities include screenings, progress monitoring, IEP participation, and coaching teachers to improve reading outcomes. A strong collaboration with the IEP team is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education and /or Special Education required.
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Reading Specialist Certification required.
  • Wilson Reading System Level I Certification preferred or willingness to obtain Wilson certification.
  • Experience in a school teaching environment required.
  • Experience providing specially designed instruction preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to lead group meetings and interface with internal and external stakeholders.

If you answered YES, then consider joining our Devereux PA Children's Services team! We are currently seeking aCertified Reading Specialist who excels working with children who have challenging behaviors in a classroom setting. This position will support our approved private school for an emotional support and behavioral health population located at [20 McMaster Blvd, Landenberg, PA 19350].


The Reading Specialist position is Full-Time, Monday-Friday


Every day as a Reading Specialist you will:



  • Provide reading intervention services directly to students in individual and group settings

  • Maintain progress monitoring and data to support growth of students

  • Conduct screenings and provide diagnosticresults of student's reading levels and needs

  • Attend IEP meetings and report on student progress

  • Provide consultation specific to reading instruction including modeling, observations and coaching to teachers and teacher's assistants

  • Work collaboratively with the leadership of the schools and the student's IEP team to provide a continuum of reading instruction

Devereux Day Academy is a private academic school program located in Landenberg, PA. Devereux Day Academy is licensed to serve students in grades K-12 who have been identified with the following primary disabilities: Emotional Disturbance, behavioral and cognitive differences. The Devereux Day Academy is also able to help children with autism, intellectual disabilities and speech and language impairments. The core curriculum has been aligned with the Pennsylvania Core Standards, as well as the curricula of our partner school districts. This innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. The goal of the curriculum is to provide students with learning experiences that foster increased engagement and success through differentiated instruction, evidence-based instructional strategies, and rigorous learning expectations. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals. A multi-disciplinary team, including the individual’s parent(s) or guardian, regularly reviews the plan to discuss challenges, progress and adjustments to goals as appropriate. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments.
