CMA CGM in Marseille seeks an experienced Engineer to lead the onboard system pole, focusing on innovation of shipboard machinery, safety, and new technologies. You will drive audits, evaluate new tech, and deliver cross-functional projects within R&D and delivery teams.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in maritime or related industrial fields, with strong project and team management, fluent English, and international exposure.

Qualifications

• Generalist engineer with knowledge of physical processes and their application in industrial tech.
• Experience with digital, electrical architecture and power management systems.
• Experience in project follow-up tools and scheduling.
• Knowledge of system-on-board vessel engineering and automation processes.
• Strong communication across multiple software platforms (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
• Minimum 10 years in oil & gas, maritime, or industrial processes.
• Strong international and multicultural experience; shipping knowledge beneficial.

Responsabilités

• Lead the system-on-board pole and manage ongoing system audits and technology reviews.
• Launch, manage and deliver projects in the field of onboard machinery and safety.
• Support concept ships projects (ammonia, hydrogen, carbon capture) and retrofit efforts.
• Provide guidance to R&D and delivery teams on project realization and KPI tracking.
• Define roadmaps for system engineering and report progress to the manager.

Job description:

YOUR ROLE

Withing the R&D engineering ship department, your mission consists in managing the pole in charge of innovation of system on board, i.e. all machinery (fuel gas handling system, boilers, reefers, etc) except combustion engine, shaft and propeller, but also safety (firefighting), new technologies (batterie, fuel cell, carbon capture) and vessel connectivity.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

More precisely, you will lead the system on board pole who is in charge of on your field of expertise :

• Make a continuous audit of existing system
• Review and assess any technology with potential marine application
• Launch, manage and deliver project
• Support concept ships projects (ammonia, hydrogen, carbon captur)
• Support R&D support team on NB or retrofit project
• Support delivery team on the project realization

Your role as manager will be of:

• Organize and follow-up the Projects activities and KPI (dedicated meetings, budget, planning, ressources…)
• Manage the quality of the projects and deliverable of your team
• Become a recognized expert on the field of expertise
• Define a road map on the system engineer part
• Issue periodical reporting to the R&D engineering ships manager
