R&D Internship: Modelling Damage in Recycled Al Alloys

Constellium SE invites an Internship in R&D to model damage nucleation and growth in recycled aluminium alloys. The intern will work with the Centre des Matériaux, Mines Paris - PSL, and partner labs to analyze how iron-related intermetallics affect ductility, using nano-tomography data and a micromechanical cellular automaton model.

The project combines literature review, data post-processing, RVE construction, model testing, and transfer to industrial R&D.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or MSc with a strong mechanics background.
• Interest in numerical simulations and data post-processing.
• Ability to work autonomously in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Knowledge of physical metallurgy is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Model damage nucleation and growth in recycled aluminium alloys.
• Perform data post-processing of nano-tomography and simulations.
• Build and test a representation of the multi-phase material (RVE).
• Compare simulation results with experimental observations and adjust models.
• Prepare reports and present findings to the team and partners.
• Collaborate with academic and industrial partners across labs.
