Quandela invites an early-career researcher to join the optical characterization team in Massy for 5 to 6 months. The role focuses on optical spectroscopy of quantum dots, design of advanced optical measurement setups, and quantitative analysis of key metrics under supervision in an international environment.
Ideal candidates have a Master’s in Physics or Engineering, a background in optics or photonics, and familiarity with Python.
Quandela stands as a global leader in quantum computing, driven by groundbreaking technology and a strategic vision for scaling quantum solutions. The company’s unique ability to offer both hardware and software solutions, along with its commitment to build energy efficient datacenters and scalability, positions it to play a key role in the next wave of innovation, and in many strategic and sovereign industrial sectors.
Our core product consists of ultra-bright sources of single-photons based on a disruptive technology developed for the past 15 years at the C2N-CNRS laboratory. These unique quantum light sources serve as building blocks for the development of optical quantum computers and the deployment of quantum networks.
During this internship you will be part of the team in charge of the optical characterization of these ultra-bright single-photon sources. In particular, you will be working on:
This internship will allow you to get unique hands-on experience at the intersection of quantum optics (cavity QED), semiconductor physics, and optical engineering, providing a strong foundation for a future career in academic research or cutting-edge photonics and quantum technology engineering.
A challenging and innovative work environment at the heart of quantum computing.
A diverse and collaborative company culture.
Opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
At Quandela, we believe that the strength of our team is the plurality of experiences, perspectives, and journeys. We are committed to building a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. All applications are welcome.
QUANTUM ROLE CONTEXT | Appended by Quantum.Jobs v2
This early-career research internship exists to support experimental physics evaluation and optical system validation within specialized hardware development teams. Situated at the primary characterization stage of the technical workflow, the position assists senior researchers and experimental physicists in analyzing physical components used for light-based processing architectures. By performing structured optical testing, data collection, and physical measurements, individuals in this role help validate component behavior and refine sub-system performance, bridging foundational physical science and practical hardware engineering within lab-based research environments.
The role contributes to photonic quantum computing and quantum communications by supporting the empirical validation of single-photon emitter source components. As optical quantum architectures rely on high-quality photon sources for system scaling, precise physical characterization is necessary for performance verification. Positioned at the hardware testing layer, this research function helps assess component metrics and optical assemblies, providing essential data that enables hardware engineering teams to optimize foundational physical building blocks required for scalable optical quantum processing and secure quantum networking solutions.
