Marex’s Algo and Flow department, formerly WEBB Traders, brings together expertise in proprietary trading, electronic market making, and quantitative research. The department provides liquidity across global cash equity and derivatives markets, using proprietary capital, advanced technology, and automated trading strategies.

This role sits within the WEBB team, whose roots date back to 2009. Based in Amsterdam, with a significant presence in Paris, the team combines its entrepreneurial approach and specialist trading expertise with Marex’s global reach, market access, and broader financial services capabilities.

Market makers, quantitative researchers, software engineers, and business professionals work closely together to develop trading strategies, improve technology, and solve complex market challenges. Joining the team offers the opportunity to take ownership, contribute directly to the business, and grow within the wider Marex Group.

Join our systematic equity options market making desk as it expands across US and European markets. Working alongside traders, quants, and developers, you'll help improve the models and tools behind our automated quoting, from volatility surface fitting to quoting performance, and get hands-on exposure to monitoring a live trading system. It's a chance to see how a market making business runs end to end, and to make contributions with a measurable impact on trading.

This internship is intended for students currently pursuing a Master's degree in a quantitative discipline, or recent Bachelor's graduates undertaking a gap year prior to further study. The minimum internship duration is 6 months.

Responsibilities
  • Analyse the quality of our volatility surface fits across underlyings, identify and implement improvements
  • Study quoting performance (spreads, fill rates, adverse selection, capture) and propose data-driven changes to make our markets tighter and more competitive
  • Support production monitoring of the automated trading system, helping to flag anomalies, investigate issues, and improve alerting and dashboards
  • Build analysis tools and scripts in our research environment to make this work repeatable
  • Present findings and recommendations to the desk
Competencies:
  • Analytical rigour: you question results, check your assumptions, and let data drive conclusions
  • Curiosity about markets and a genuine interest in how options are priced and traded
  • Ownership and reliability, especially when working near a live production system
  • Clear communication, so you can explain technical findings to traders and developers
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work independently once pointed in a direction
Skills and Experience:
  • Currently pursuing a Master degree in a quantitative field (mathematics, financial engineering, or similar)
  • Solid programming skills in Python, including pandas and NumPy
  • Strong foundations in probability, statistics, and numerical methods
  • Good understanding of options theory: pricing models, greeks, implied volatility dynamics and volatility surface construction
  • Prior trading, research, or quant internship experience is a plus
