Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) in La Ciotat, France, seeks a QA Engineer to ensure product quality, process compliance, and continuous improvement across incoming, in-process, and final QC.

You will lead IPQC, manage CAPA, support supplier quality, and participate in calibration control, audits, and regulatory compliance (RoHS/REACH). Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 3 years in QA/QC within labels/packaging or related industry.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of RoHS/REACH/GMP advantageous and good MS Office skills.

Summary of the role

The QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality, process compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process. This role supports incoming material inspection, in-process quality control, customer complaint management, calibration systems, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure all labels and packaging products meet MCC standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
1. Incoming Raw Material Quality Control
  • Ensure all incoming raw materials, including paper, film, inks, adhesives, and packaging materials, are inspected according to established specifications and quality standards.
  • Review inspection results and communicate non-conformities to Purchasing and relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse/Raw Material Store personnel to quarantine defective materials pending disposition.
  • Support vendor quality management activities, including Vendor Corrective Action Requests (VCAR) and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Drive continuous improvement with suppliers to enhance incoming material quality.
2. In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)
  • Lead and supervise IPQC activities to ensure products comply with approved specifications and customer requirements.
  • Ensure first article/sample approvals are conducted prior to production release.
  • Monitor production processes through routine patrol audits and process verification.
  • Analyze quality data and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for process deviations and non-conformances.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to production personnel on quality-related matters.
3. Final Product Quality Assurance
  • Verify finished labels and packaging products meet customer specifications, artwork requirements, color standards, and quality acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure all required quality records and documentation are completed and maintained.
  • Support product release activities and ensure compliance with applicable quality standards.
4. Customer Complaint Management
  • Investigate customer complaints and quality incidents in a timely manner.
  • Perform root cause analysis using quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and CAPA methodologies.
  • Coordinate containment actions, sorting activities, product replacement, and corrective actions when required.
  • Communicate investigation results and corrective actions to customers within agreed timelines.
  • Monitor complaint trends and drive preventive improvement initiatives.
5. Regulatory and Compliance Management
  • Respond to customer requests related to product compliance requirements, including RoHS, REACH, FDA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain quality management system documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 and other relevant certifications.
  • Participate in internal, customer, and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company environmental, health, safety, and sustainability requirements.
6. Calibration and Inspection Equipment Control
  • Maintain the master list of measuring and testing equipment.
  • Ensure all inspection and measurement equipment are calibrated before due dates.
  • Coordinate with external calibration service providers and maintain calibration records.
  • Verify equipment suitability and effectiveness for quality inspections.
7. Continuous Improvement and Quality Projects
  • Support QA Manager in implementing quality improvement initiatives and cost reduction projects.
  • Analyze quality performance indicators and recommend improvement actions.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, GMP, and Operational Excellence activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inspection efficiency, process capability, and product quality.
  • Lead or support cross-functional quality improvement projects.
8. Training and Quality Awareness
  • Conduct quality training programs for inspectors, operators, and relevant staff.
  • Promote quality awareness and best practices throughout the organization.
  • Assist in developing work instructions, quality procedures, and inspection standards.
9. General Duties
  • Perform other responsibilities and assignments as directed by the QA Manager.
  • Support company objectives, departmental KPIs, and continuous improvement programs.
Job Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, Science, or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Manufacturing Quality within the labels, packaging, printing, or related industry.
  • Experience in ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of label printing processes (Flexographic, Digital, Offset, or related technologies) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In-Process Quality Control (IPQC), and Final Quality Control.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with quality management systems and audit requirements.
  • Understanding of measurement systems, calibration, and inspection equipment.
  • Knowledge of RoHS, REACH, GMP, FSC, and related customer compliance requirements is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and quality reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
