Job summary

Poppins is seeking a Product Engineer to help scale the product and own features across the API layer and apps. You will collaborate directly with business stakeholders and the CEO in a small, fast-moving team.

In this role you will work across backend and frontend, using modern frameworks and tools, with remote-friendly, flexible hours and opportunities for growth within a lean tech environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years developing APIs on modern frameworks.
• Proven track record building and maintaining server applications and APIs.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Adaptability to learn new technologies.
• Strong problem-solving and performance troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Build new features and scale the product to maximize growth, working closely with business stakeholders.
• Develop across the API layer and front-end apps (React Native on mobile, React on web).

We live in a world where we own too many things we barely ever use. Poppins is the app that turns the neighbourhood into one big shared closet: the neighbour's drill, the bike from the shop downstairs, the camera belonging to the photographer on the 3rd floor are suddenly yours too.

We closed our second funding round in February, passed 500,000 users, and we're growing double digits every month. Our brand is built on community and PR: it's about changing habits and creating a genuinely new consumption reflex. We’re looking for a Product Engineer with strong appetite for our product, willing to join a small Tech team, working closely with the business stakeholders.

About the Role

We are looking for a new member in our Tech team to build new features and help scaling the product to maximize our growth - both geographically and the density in every area. We will be a lean tech and product team of 3. There is no product team per say so you will be working with the business stakeholders directly, reporting to the CEO.

Not backend-only

You'll work across our API layer and our apps: React Native on mobile, React + TanStack Start on web. We're small, so you'll move between backend and frontend depending on the week.

What We’re Looking For

• Hard Skills: 5+ years developing APIs on modern frameworks (like FastAPI, Django, NestJS, Symfony or similar). Proven track record building and maintaining server applications and APIs.
• Adaptability: Strong understanding of modern technologies and a keen willingness to learn new ones.
• Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills with a track record of addressing complex scalability and performance challenges in a pragmatic manner.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively challenge and engage with various stakeholders.
• Fluent in English and French.
