microTECH Global Limited is seeking a Field Application Engineer to support development and adoption of advanced power protection technologies for next-generation electrical and power electronics systems. The role blends power electronics engineering, lab testing, and customer engagement to create demonstrators and prototypes for customers and partners.

Qualifications

Degree or MSc in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or closely related field.
5-10 years of relevant experience in power electronics or related field.
Strong understanding of power electronic circuits and protection principles.
Experience with protection challenges such as short‑circuit events, current limiting, fault detection, switching transients, and protection coordination.

Responsabilités

Identify and evaluate new applications for advanced electronic and semiconductor-based power protection technologies.
Work with customers and partners to understand application requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
Design, develop, and validate prototypes, demonstrators, test platforms, and evaluation systems.
Investigate the application of Wide Bandgap (WBG) semiconductor technologies within high‑speed power protection and switching systems.
Develop and maintain advanced laboratory test setups for evaluation and characterisation of power electronic systems and semiconductor devices.
Plan and execute testing programmes covering fast transients, short‑circuit events, surge conditions, switching behaviour, thermal performance, and SOA limits.
Assess system‑level protection requirements, including current limiting, fault detection, interruption, selectivity, and protection coordination.
Support the development of innovative AC and DC power distribution architectures across a range of emerging applications.
Collaborate with industrial, academic, and technology partners on the development and evaluation of new solutions.
Develop technical documentation including application notes, test reports, design guidelines, technical presentations, and evaluation reports.
Analyse test results and translate experimental findings into clear engineering recommendations.
Maintain awareness of developments in power semiconductor devices, power electronics, electrical protection, and emerging power distribution technologies.
Support customer evaluations, technical discussions, and application development activities where required.
