CNRS in Paris, within the Epitranscriptional Responses to Antimicrobial Stress team at IBPC, seeks a PhD-level researcher to study post-transcriptional tRNA modifications and their impact on stress tolerance in clinical E. coli strains.

You will combine microbiology, genetics, CRISPRi, comparative genomics, and bioinformatics to identify determinants of strain-to-strain stress responses and contribute to publications.

Qualifications

  • PhD in microbiology, bacterial genetics, molecular biology, genomics, or a related field.
  • Strong experimental experience in bacterial microbiology.
  • Experience in bacterial genetics and strain construction.
  • Experience with CRISPRi–based strain libraries.
  • Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience in bacterial genome analysis & comparative genomics.
  • Bioinformatics skills for genomic data analysis.
  • Data analysis & visualization with R and/or Python.
  • Ability to integrate experimental, genomic, and phenotypic data.
  • Interest in bacterial stress adaptation and antimicrobial tolerance.
  • Experience with clinical E. coli strains is a plus.
  • Fluent written/spoken English.

Responsabilités

  • Culture and handling of clinical Escherichia coli strains.
  • Construct bacterial mutant strains and plasmids.
  • Develop phenotypic assays for stress conditions.
  • Perform microbiology and molecular biology techniques.
  • Analyze bacterial genomes and perform comparative genomics.
  • Bioinformatic analysis of genomic data.
  • Integrate genomic and phenotypic data.
  • Contribute to publications and presentations.
