CNRS – Institut de physique théorique in France is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the P2S2 project, developing precise parton shower algorithms and studying jet physics.

The position, initially for 2 years with possible extension to a third year, is part of the ANR P2S2 project led by Gregory Soyez at IPhT in collaboration with Matteo Cacciari at LPTHE. The role requires solid knowledge of particle physics and QCD, with programming skills a plus.

Qualifications

  • PhD in particle physics or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of quantum chromodynamics.
  • Experience with programming is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills.

Responsabilités

  • Develop a precise parton shower algorithm at next-to-single log accuracy for ee collisions.
  • Extend results to proton-proton collisions.
  • Study the phenomenological aspects of jet physics.
  • Collaborate with project leaders and publish results.

Offer Description

The candidate will work on the scientific themes of the P2S2 project: developing precise parton shower algorithms and studying their consequences in jet physics.

  • Develop a parton shower algorithm that is precise to the next-to-single log for ee collisions.
  • Extend these results to proton-proton collisions.
  • Study the phenomenological aspects of jet physics

This is a postdoctoral position recruited as part of the ANR P2S2 project. The project is led by Gregory Soyez at IPhT in collaboration with Matteo Cacciari at LPTHE. The position is initially filled for a period of 2 years, with the possibility of an extension for a third year.

Good knowledge of particle physics and quantum chromodynamics. Knowledge of computer programming is a plus.
