Description of the research subject
This postdoc is part of the CNRS CATFOAM Risk Research project led by the ICSS of Strasbourg and the IMMM of Le Mans. (https://www.cnrs.fr/fr/nos-recherches/france-2030/ri2-catfoam ). The aim is to demonstrate the potential of structured fluids (foams and emulsions) as specific reaction media. More precisely, the aim is to use these fluids as a host matrix for enzymes that will be able to destroy biofilms and/or fragment microplastics into smaller particles. The objective of the postdoc is therefore to formulate such fluids, to characterize them in terms of structure and stability and to measure their effectiveness in the transport and degradation of microplastics. This is therefore a fundamental work of formulation and characterization of complex fluids (foams and emulsions) active with regard to the removal of microplastic, this work is located at the interface of chemistry/physicochemistry/physics of soft matter and environmental sciences.
Planning research project
Formulation and investigation of foam/emulsion with and without microplastics (6 monts for each).
Assigned activities and expected results
Formulation of complex fluids (foam and emulsion). Characterization of their structure and stability (by electron and confocal microscopy, tensiometry, foamscan, lumifuge and lumireader, flotation measurement, etc.). Regular reporting with project partners.
The application must include the following documents :
A translation of the application documents must be attached if they are not in French.
PhD thesis in physics or physiochemistry of soft matter and/or polymer. Knowledge of dispersed media (foam and/or emulsion) is a plus. Good written and oral communication skills are expected (particularly in English) for regular reporting with project partners.
The contract is for one year. The gross monthly salary is 2475€.
3) Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview.
The work will take plaxe at IMMM but several stay in Strasbourg will be scheduled as well.
