Le Mans Université recherche un chercheur temporaire dans le domaine des revêtements acoustiques bas carbone. Le poste consiste à formuler et optimiser un revêtement acoustique utilisant un composant biosourcé et un liant hydraulique, avec des critères de sécurité feu B-s1, d0.

Le candidat mènera des caractérisations physico-chimiques et analytiques et préparera le plan de travail de novembre 2026 à novembre 2027.

Qualifications

• PhD ou équivalent en sciences des matériaux ou chimie
• Expérience en formulation de liants hydrauliques et composants biosourcés
• Connaissance des matériaux de construction bas carbone
• Capacité à réaliser et interpréter des caractérisations physico-chimiques
• Organisation, planification et rigueur dans l'exécution expérimentale

Responsabilités

• Mise à jour de l'état de l'art sur les revêtements acoustiques bas carbone.
• Formulation d’un revêtement acoustique bas carbone.
• Incorporation de charges et caractérisation rhéologique et densité.
• Caractérisation des couches biosourcées par SEM, BET, TGA, IR et Raman.
• Caractérisation acoustique du revêtement sur différents substrats.
• Optimisation des paramètres pour fabrication industrielle et application sur chantiers.
• Analyse des défis lors de la mise à l’échelle du système.

Description of the research subject

The research work will mainly focus on the formulation of a coating with acoustic transparency properties, incorporating a bio-based component, derived from recycling or polymeric (bio- or geo-sourced) and a hydraulic mineral coating, and meeting a minimum fire reaction classification B-s1, d0.

Planning research project

From November 2, 2026, to November 1, 2027

Assigned activities and expected results

• Updating the state of the art: low-carbon acoustic coatings and solutions;
• Formulation of a low-carbon acoustic coating based on previously studied approaches;
• Incorporation of selected fillers into the formulation and characterization of rheological properties, density, and viscosity;
• Characterization of bio-based or recycled layers using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), particle size analysis, BET, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), infrared spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy coupled with an optical microscope;
• Characterization of the acoustic properties of the coating alone and when applied to various types of substrates;
• Optimization of parameters to ensure the functions of the layers, enable industrial manufacturing, and allow for the application of the coating according to methods used on construction sites;
• Analysis of the challenges and impacts on the layers of scaling up and producing the system

The application must include the following documents :

• Detailed curriculum vitae

A translation of the application documents must be attached if they are not in French.

• Experience in the formulation of hydraulic binders and the implementation of bio-based components;
• Knowledge of low-carbon building materials;
• Aptitude for physicochemical characterization techniques;
• Organization, planning, rigor, execution, and analysis of experiments

The contract is for a term of one year. The start date is November 2, 2026. The gross monthly salary is €3,300.
