L’ Université de Bordeaux, via le laboratoire EPOC, recrute un poste de post-doctorant en ecotoxicologie pour évaluer la toxicité et les effets des filets biodégradables destinés à l’aquaculture marine.

Le candidat mènera des analyses biologiques et chimiques sur Mytilus edulis à différents stades de développement, avec supervision et possibilités de publication scientifique, dans un environnement international et interdisciplinaire à Pessac.

Qualifications

• Docteur en sciences environnementales avec spécialisation en ecotoxicologie et ecophysiologie.
• Connaissance en tests sur des animaux aquatiques et en physiologie animale.
• Maîtrise des statistiques et compétences rédactionnelles.
• Compétences en anglais (min. B2) dans un contexte multiculturel.

Responsabilités

• Produire des embryons de moules par fécondation in vitro et exposer les spécimens sous conditions contrôlées.
• Mesurer les effets sur le développement, la croissance et la mobilité des moules.
• Étudier les effets écotoxiques et les réponses adaptatives des moules adultes en conditions expérimentales et in situ.
• Superviser des stagiaires et contribuer à l'écriture d'articles scientifiques.
• Analyser et interpréter les résultats; présenter les résultats lors de conférences.

Join the laboratory Oceanic and Continental Environments and Palaeoenvironments (EPOC)! This laboratory is a Joint Research Unit under the joint supervision of the University of Bordeaux, CNRS, Bordeaux INP and the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes. EPOC is a multidisciplinary UMR developing a strong and recognized expertise in ecotoxicology, ecology, biogeochemistry, environmental chemistry, sedimentology, paleoclimatology, coastal oceanography, marine geosciences.
As part of the NetImpact project, engaged by the National Research Agency, we are recruiting a Post-Doctoral researcher in ecotoxicology F/H whose research will focus on the evaluation of toxicity and characterization of effects of new biodegradable nets for marine mussel farming.

Mission

This project aims to study the environmental and health impacts related to the use of plastics in aquaculture, particularly protective nets used in the farming of marine mussels on bouchot, by focusing on bio-based alternatives - biodegradable, considered more sustainable and less harmful to ecosystems. It therefore aims to ensure that they do not pose additional risks to marine ecosystems or human health.

Your mission will aim to characterize and compare the effects of biosourced biodegradable plastic protective nets compared to conventional plastics, before and after aging in a UV chamber or immersion in a natural environment (mesocosm). Toxicity and induced effects will be characterized on the blue mussel Mytilus edulis at two developmental stages: embryo-larval and adult, using both phenotypic, biochemical and physiological analyses.

You will be supervised by Jérôme CACHOT.

Study of the toxicity of particles, additives and leachates from plastic nets on blue mussel embryos and larvae

• You produce mussel embryos by in vitro fertilization
• You expose them under controlled laboratory conditions
• You measure the effects on development, growth, and mobility

Study of ecotoxic effects and adaptive responses of adult mussels exposed to plastic nets

• You are exhibiting mussels in mesocosome (Lab. LOG, Littoral University of the Opal Coast)
• You carry out in situ measurements of the effects on survival, growth, and filtration activity
• You analyze biochemical responses (oxidative stress) and the content of proteins, lipids, and glycogen

Supervision of trainees for the study of the toxicity of particles, additives and leachates of plastic nets on bacteria and marine microalgae (standardized tests)

Analysis and evaluation of results

• You conduct a statistical analysis and interpret the results
• You contribute to the writing of scientific articles
• You present your results at scientific and public conferences

You will carry out missions in the field.

Profil

Holder of a PhD in Environmental Sciences and more precisely in ecotoxicology and ecophysiology, you have developed knowledge in animal physiology.

Based in Pessac – access by tramway line B (stop « Doyen Brus ») buses, bike. The laboratory is near the city-centre of Bordeaux and about 60 Km of the Atlantic coasts.

14-month fixed-term contract

Gross monthly salary: from 2750 € to 3000 € according to grid and experience
