Job summary

The LPENS in Paris seeks a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to work on the ANR-funded VIEWS project, exploring AGN feedback and black-hole feeding in massive galaxies. The role combines advanced modeling with JWST data, within the Astrophysics team at LPENS on the Paris Campus.

The successful candidate will develop an integrated framework to infer excitation conditions, and run high-resolution 3D MHD simulations of shocks using RAMSES, to guide JWST interpretations.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, astronomy or related subject by appointment time.
• Strong modeling or numerical simulation expertise favored.
• Experience with state-of-the-art photo-ionisation and shock models is an asset.
• Experience handling multi-wavelength data and extragalactic astrophysics is preferred.
• Programming in Python, Fortran or C++ is required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the ANR-funded VIEWS project on AGN feedback in massive galaxies.
• Develop an integrated framework to infer excitation conditions from JWST data.
• Carry out high-resolution 3D MHD simulations of fast shocks with RAMSES.
• Interpret JWST observations and contribute to scientific publications.
