Siemens Mobility is seeking a PLC Technician – Data Center Automation in Chantilly, VA to participate in installation, startup, commissioning and lifecycle transitions of sophisticated automation systems for data center facilities across the U.S.

You will collaborate with engineering, project management, commissioning, service, and customer teams to ensure successful project delivery, troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs, reviewing drawings, and documenting results.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting commissioning, controls, automation, building automation, industrial controls, or mission-critical facility infrastructure.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-based control systems and automation technologies.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, control drawings, specifications, network architectures, and sequences of operation documentation.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, or validation of complex automation systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
  • Must be 18+ and have a valid driver's license; eligible for Siemens fleet vehicle program.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsabilités

  • Participate in startup, checkout, commissioning, validation, and customer acceptance activities for data centre automation projects.
  • Support installation verification, panel checkout, point-to-point testing, I/O validation, loop testing, and functional performance testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving PLCs, field devices, instrumentation, networking components, control panels, and integrated automation systems.
  • Assist with startup and commissioning of facility automation systems for cooling, electrical distribution, backup power, environmental monitoring, and critical infrastructure.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, network architectures, sequences of operation, control schematics, and commissioning documentation.
  • Support integrated systems testing including FAT, SAT, and customer witness activities.

As a PLC Technician – Data Center Automation, you will participate in the installation, startup, commissioning, validation, and lifecycle transition of complex automation systems supporting hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and mission‑critical data center facilities throughout the United States.

You will serve as a technical resource during project execution, collaborating with engineering, project management, commissioning, service, subcontractor, and customer teams to ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

As a PLC Technician, you will:

  • Participate in startup, checkout, commissioning, validation, and customer acceptance activities for data centre automation projects.
  • Support installation verification, panel checkout, point‑to‑point testing, I/O validation, loop testing, and functional performance testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving PLC controllers, field devices, instrumentation, networking components, control panels, and integrated automation systems.
  • Assist with startup and commissioning of facility automation systems associated with cooling, electrical distribution, backup power, environmental monitoring, and critical infrastructure systems.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, network architectures, sequences of operation, control schematics, and commissioning documentation.
  • Support integrated systems testing including FAT, SAT, functional testing, and customer witness activities.
  • Perform system diagnostics and validate operation of PLCs, HMIs, remote I/O, network communications, and automation interfaces.
  • Coordinate technical activities with project teams, contractors, vendors, service personnel, and customer representatives.
  • Document deficiencies, corrective actions, commissioning results, software backups, redlines, and turnover documentation.
  • Support customer training and project closeout activities.
  • Assist with service transition and lifecycle readiness activities to ensure successful long‑term operation of installed systems.
  • Serve as a technical resource supporting continuous improvement initiatives and best practices for data centre automation delivery.

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, technical degree, military training, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting commissioning, controls, automation, building automation, industrial controls, electrical systems, or mission‑critical facility infrastructure.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC‑based control systems and automation technologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret: electrical schematics, control drawings, specifications, network architectures, and sequence of operations documentation
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, or validation of complex automation systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens' fleet vehicle program.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
