Job summary

Mistral is seeking a Research Engineer to build and scale the Orchestral platform used by researchers to train and evaluate AI models. You will design core libraries, tooling, and the rollout engine, enabling long-running tasks, subagents, and reliable production workloads.

You will interact with researchers to translate their needs into reusable tooling, enhance CI/CD and observability, and contribute to open-source projects that benefit the platform.

Qualifications

• Strong Python skills and solid software-design instincts.
• Experience building and debugging complex distributed systems at scale.
• Collaborative mindset with ability to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the core of the Orchestral platform for model training and evaluation.
• Evolve the rollout engine with long-running tasks and subagents.
• Operate Orchestral as a reliable production system at scale.
• Improve data and job flow: scheduling, routing and requests.
