Our collective future depends on decarbonizing the fossil fuel industry, while innovating a new energy landscape. It's what drives us. Ensuring progress for people and the planet, on the journey to net zero and beyond. For a balanced planet.

Our purpose: Together, we create amazing technology that unlocks access to energy for the benefit of all. You can find out more about us on company website

Location:

Clamart, France

Description & Scope:

Liquid and gas flow are fundamental in many new and existing energy systems. For optimal control of such systems, these fluid flows have to be accurately measured, often at high pressure and temperature.

We are developing a multi-sensor system to precisely measure multiphase fluid flow in various flow regimes. Good technical understanding and hands-on sensor hardware modifications allow to arrive at high-quality sensors.

Clever processing of data from multiple of these high-quality sensors leads to a top-of-the-line flow-metering product. In the internship the student will test, modify and optimize one or two of our sensors in a test flow loop which provides accurate multiphase flow control.

If desired, the internship can include advanced sensor data processing with techniques such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Responsibilities:

Based on your personal interests, the student can focus on more manual or more algorithmic contributions. Manual work includes testing different versions of flow meter geometry, material and surface-coating, while proposing new ideas. Where possible the intern designs and creates some of the parts (e.g., 3D printing).

Algorithmic work involves treating the raw data supplied by electrical, ultrasonic and optical sensors to extract individual fluid-phase flow rates and velocities. Results will be reported in a detailed technical report.

Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree - (Penultimate or Final year) in Experimental physics, Fluid mechanics, Material science, Data processing or a related discipline
  • Working knowledge of Python with Numpy and Matplotlib.
  • The student should be able to understand, use and extend scripts
  • Technical insight in fluid flow and data acquisition
  • Oral and written communication skills in English - Good motivation, autonomy, teamwork, and ingenuit
