CNRS - Institut de recherche sur les céramiques (ER IRCER) in Limoges offers a 36-month PhD position as part of the European REFFACTEUR network. The student will split time between ELKEM in Kristiansand, Norway, and the IRCER lab in Limoges, working on cement-free binder systems for refractory concretes.

The project aims to link binder chemistry, production processes, microstructure evolution, and high-temperature performance, with exposure to international collaboration and advanced ceramics

Qualifications

• Master 2 or equivalent in materials science or related field.
• Strong background in inorganic materials, phase transformations and powder processing.
• Interest in refractory concretes and durable binder systems.
• Good oral and written English.

Responsabilités

• Undertake a 36-month PhD within the REFFACTEUR network.
• Spend 9 months at ELKEM in Kristiansand, Norway and 18 months in Limoges at IRCER.
• Develop cement-free binder formulations and study their high-temperature performance.
• Publish results and present progress within the international project.
