Job summary

1000scholars announces a fully funded 3-year PhD position in the Lille Neuroscience & Cognition center under the KissME project. The successful candidate will explore Kisspeptin signaling linking reproduction and energy balance, involving in vivo and ex vivo techniques and advanced imaging.

The role requires strong skills in mouse handling, tissue processing, imaging and molecular biology, with data analysis in GraphPad Prism, R or Python. English proficiency is expected; French is an asset.

Qualifications

• Mouse handling including various administration routes and potential stereotaxic surgery.
• Vibratome/cryostat tissue sectioning; fluorescence and confocal imaging.
• Immunohistochemistry, RNAscope in situ hybridization and molecular biology (RNA extraction, RT-qPCR, western blot).
• Metabolic and reproductive phenotyping (indirect calorimetry, body composition, glucose/insulin tolerance, estrous cycle)
• Data/statistical analysis and curation with GraphPad Prism, R or Python.
• English at a basic level; French is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in KissME project organization and execution of experiments.
• Attend lab meetings and contribute to protocol development.
• Set up experimental workflows (e.g., kisspeptin release assays, LC-MS/MS sample prep).
• Analyze data, create figures, and co-author research papers.
• Collaborate with animal facility and imaging/metabolic platforms; MRI coordination.
• Support Doctoral School training and mentor Master’s students.
