The Laboratory of Photonics, Electronics, and Quantum Engineering (PHELIQS) is a joint research unit of the CEA and the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). Organized into five teams, PHELIQS includes about 60 permanent staff members (researchers, teacher-researchers, technical and administrative personnel) and hosts around 35 PhD students and 15 postdoctoral researchers.
PHELIQS conducts fundamental research in the fields of nanophysics and condensed matter physics, mainly upstream of information and communication technologies. The research at PHELIQS aims in particular at understanding and controlling original physical effects, generally of quantum origin, that appear in solid-state systems of reduced dimensionality or nanometric size, as well as in materials with strong electronic correlations. The goal is to provide innovative solutions to major challenges in photonics and nanoelectronics, notably the development of components and systems for quantum information processing.
