Job summary

1000scholars within the PEAR project invites a PhD candidate to explore crowd scenarios that can be authored and configured locally on-site through AR. The work focuses on shifting from global desk configurations to embodied, on-site interaction, enabling real-time, guided exploration of crowd dynamics.

The candidate will ground local authoring in real-world AR cues and contribute the underlying simulation and integration layer, collaborating with INRIA, LIST, LCPP, Hellfest, and Paléo partners.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C++ and/or C#.
• Background in computer graphics, crowd simulation, or virtual/augmented reality.
• Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine is advantageous.
• Interest in human–computer interaction, interaction design, and usability evaluation with humans.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written) to interact with project partners.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to AR-enabled crowd simulation research.
• Develop local on-site authoring paradigms in AR.
• Collaborate with AR platform teams to integrate simulation components.
• Evaluate usability with non-expert users (e.g., event organizers).
