Job summary

Arago, an AI and hardware company, is hiring a Performance Software Engineer to build core computation software for Arago’s accelerators. You will bridge host systems and hardware, from on-board kernels to real-time debugging tooling, and contribute to chip bring-up and high-performance kernels.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in CS or CE, be proficient in C/C++ and assembly, with bare-metal experience, RISC-V/ARM, and debugging with GDB/JTAG.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong experience in low-level systems programming using C/C++ and assembly, with understanding of compiled software and hardware.
• Deep familiarity with bare-metal development, including startup code, memory layout, and interrupts.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture, pipelines, caches, DMA, and memory hierarchies.
• Hands-on experience with RISC-V and/or ARM architectures, and assembly.
• Experience debugging hardware/software interactions using GDB, JTAG, or simulators.
• Ability to read hardware specifications and RTL docs and translate to robust software.
• Strong performance-analysis and optimization skills; knowledge of compiler behavior and hand-tuned assembly.
• English proficiency; French is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize low-level software primitives in C/C++, assembly, and architecture-specific intrinsics for RISC-V and ARM.
• Implement performance-critical kernels, runtimes, HALs, drivers, and firmware for bare-metal environments.
• Collaborate with hardware architects to validate interfaces, memory maps, and boot flows.
• Analyze and optimize software for latency, throughput, and memory footprint.
• Bring up and debug software on simulation, emulation, FPGA, and silicon platforms.
• Develop validation tests, benchmarks, and diagnostic tools for new processor, DSP, accelerator, and SoC functionality.
• Contribute to ISA extension and memory hierarchy decisions affecting software visibility.
