Job Summary

Processes work in the central office. Performs a variety of duties pertaining to the preparation and adjustment phases of a complex integrated payroll system. Responds to inquiries from employees which may require conducting research and/or contacting other offices for information.

Essential Functions
All specialties
  • Examines records, transactions, and other related documents to obtain information.
  • Reviews and analyzes problems.
  • Notifies all concerned and involved parties of findings and solutions.
  • Provides assistance to employees with respect to payroll related problems.
  • When necessary, refers problems to appropriate District personnel for resolution; follows-up with staff in other offices to ensure that customer complaints are handled in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of the complainant.
  • Provides assistance to lower level processing clerks.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years of full-time, paid computerized payroll processing experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
All specialties
Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • Standard payroll regulations, practices and procedures.
  • Computerized payroll processing activities.
Demonstrated ability to:
  • Handle difficult situations in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Learn to interpret and apply contractual provisions as related to payroll operations.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Learn EXCEL and prepare spreadsheets.
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
