Qualifications

  • Strong command of Python, Django, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Kubernetes.
  • Proven track record in designing high-availability and scalable systems.
  • Knowledge of authentication protocols and LTI integrations.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Job description

Shape the evolution of one of the world’s most advanced open-source learning platforms as an Open edX Solutions Architect at Amaris Consulting. You’ll lead the technical vision, scalability, and long-term sustainability of a large‑scale Open edX deployment, ensuring robustness, security, and innovation.

This is a strategic, high‑visibility role in a fully remote setup – we’re looking for architects with deep platform expertise and global mindset.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Design and oversee the end‑to‑end architecture of Open edX environments, including LMS, Studio, microservices, and integrations.
  • Define scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions using cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Lead technical decisions around performance, availability, disaster recovery, and platform upgrades.
  • Guide development teams on best practices for Open edX customization, XBlock development, and CI/CD implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, accessibility (WCAG), and data privacy requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical roadmaps and architectural blueprints.
WHAT WE WANT
  • 5+ years of experience in software architecture, with deep expertise in Open edX or similar large‑scale LMS platforms.
  • Strong command of Python, Django, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Kubernetes, and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Proven track record in designing high‑availability, secure, and scalable systems.
  • Knowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth2, SAML), LTI integrations, and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Excellent communication skills in English; ability to lead technical discussions and mentor teams.
  • Open edX contributor or community involvement is a strong advantage.
