Part scientist, technician, legal expert, and manager, the Oenologist is a specialist in wine and the wine market. They are involved at every stage of wine production, from harvest to bottling, and provide support to both winegrowers and commercial players in the industry.

Main Responsibilities

The Oenologist plays a key role in the wine and spirits industry:

  • Ensure Wine Quality: They select grape varieties and analyze the soil, advise on vine treatment and harvest dates, supervise winemaking and distillation, define preservation processes, and handle blending and bottling.
  • Evaluate and Control: They design analytical methods and perform chemical and organoleptic tests to correct any defects.
  • Tasting Professional: With a highly developed sense of taste and smell, they evaluate wines, advise producers, and play a commercial role with clients.
  • Contribute to Commercial Strategy: They negotiate contracts, promote specific vintages, and develop sales plans.
  • Manage: They lead technical teams and collaborate with winegrowers, distributors, and major retailers.
