The Monaco/ITER Postdoctoral Fellowship Program invites early-career scientists to join a two-year research cycle within ITER, collaborating with leading experts in fusion science and technology.
Fellows work across fields such as plasma heating, materials, burning plasma physics, magnet technology, and vacuum systems, contributing to the ITER Project while experiencing an international research environment.
Under the terms of a Partnership Arrangementsigned between the ITER Organization and the Principality of Monaco in 2008 (and renewed in 2018),a Postdoctoral Fellowship program has been established at ITER. The Arrangement allows for the appointmentof five young scientists, every two years,from the seven ITER Member countries or from the Principality of Monaco. The Monaco Fellows, as they are called,are trained—over a period of two years—in research areas related to the ITER Project.
The principal motivation of the research fellowships is the development of excellence in research in fusion science and technology within the ITER framework. Brilliance and creativity, together with understanding of the relevance of the individual research interests to the ITER Project, are a key requirement.
