Marine Surveyor
Dunkerque / North France (home‑based with travel required)
As a Marine Surveyor with Lloyds Register you will join our small and experienced team in North France supporting clients across the marine industry. You will carry out surveys on ships in service as well as material equipment and component activities. This is a client‑facing role where you apply your technical knowledge to ensure safety and compliance while building trusted relationships with our clients.
We are seeking a candidate with French or European nationality ideally with experience in in‑service surveys, materials or new construction and preferably with exposure to another classification society.

Conduct surveys and assessments on ships in service as well as on marine materials equipment and components.
Produce deliverables to agreed time budget and quality standards.
Present and discuss findings with clients proposing solutions where appropriate.
Ensure all work complies with LR procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant regulations and technologies.
Contribute to effective knowledge transfer and support colleagues where appropriate.
Demonstrate a proactive commitment to health and safety in all activities.
A degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution; or relevant sea‑going experience as a certificated ships engineer officer.
At least 1 year of relevant industry experience (graduates with strong academic background and initial experience will be considered).
Experience in in‑service surveys, material and component inspections or new construction.
Knowledge of classification society processes is an advantage.
Fluency in English; knowledge of French is highly desirable.
A valid European driving licence.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the Dunkerque area and occasionally further afield.
Can work independently and flexibly while being part of a close‑knit team.
Takes accountability and ownership for delivering client needs.
Communicates effectively both technically and simply across different stakeholders.
Solves problems, makes timely decisions and shows initiative.
Demonstrates professionalism, integrity and a commitment to safety.
